There is but one rule that should be universal on Gor, the sovereignty of a person's home. The rules of a person's home always take precedence in that home. No outsider can change, modify, ignore, or replace a person's rules in their home. But, as on Gor, the rules of one's home extend no further than the boundaries of that home. Once you leave your home, you must then follow the rules of whatever home you visit. If a person dislikes the rules of another's home, then they are free to not visit that home.
Gor is not Fair, Gor is not Just, Gor just is. Defenses listed on Home page, know them to r/p entrance. Reflections is a Sanctioned Zone*, when 2 or more trained Warriors of the Home are present to protect the Home it is a NO Zone. We ask that the guestbook be signed, verifying the rules are agreed with. 777 is NOT recongized within RoG, TB melee only; Turnbase is for Men fighting only, the rules for that do not pertain to FW or slaves being punished or killed, Any action that requires the punishment of FW or death of a slave will be determined by the Free of the home. FW can and will be caged, chained, or punished as Men see fit short of a collar if actions demand it,, TB is NOT needed for punishments. This is including the Gardens, even though listed as safe, that does not mean FREE from punishment. Combat Rules as they apply within RoG and it's attendendant Homes.
The only recognised combat system within RoG shall be Turn Based combat. This takes two forms - Pit and Melee.
TB Pit will be used to settle Challenges, Disputes and to accomodate Spars in tournaments.
TB Melee will be used to facilitate Raids. Unless otherwise stated, all spontaneous combat within RoG will use TB Melee.
There are many variations of TB, it varies slightly from Home to Home. The TB combat in RoG will follow the format and Rules
as laid out below:
TB Pit
There will be THREE Judges per Match. There will be a TimeKeeper. Each Combatant will have a Judge of His choice, the third
Judge being mutually agreed on by both Combatants as the FINAL Adjudicator. This final Adjudicator will have the last word
on Judging the Match. His decision is final and no arguments will be tolerated on the day. If a Combatant disagrees with he decision, He shall have the right of appeal and the scrolls will be re-Judged immediately. After appeal, whatever the decision given, it will be FINAL and the Judgement shall stand. So select Your Judges wisely.
Each Combatant will state, in His profile, those offensive and defensive weapons He shall use. Each Combatant is permitted
four offensive weapons and two defensive weapons. A set of gauntlets counts as two weapons. No weapons stated in profile means no weapons taken into the Pit. So e warned. It IS, however, permissable to have weapons stated in Your website as long as the site states weapons carried at all times.
There shall be an pre post of 5 minutes duration. In this post, both Combatants write Their posts simultaneously, stating Their height, weight, weapons, position of weapons, stance, facing, distance from each Other. When the 5 minutes has expired, he TimeKeeper shall call "TIME" then both Combatants will post Their pre post in the room, followed immediately by the post DONE". The Judges will confer & determine the final distance between Combatants, based on the average between both stated distances in the pre posts.
The Adjudicator will ask for a coin toss. How He does this is up to Him. Each Combatant will "call" the toss...being heads or tails.
The Adjudicator will determine the winner of the toss, then offer that Combatant the choice of posting first or second. After this has been ascertained, the TimeKeeper will state "two minute posts...are both Combatants ready?"
When both state ready, the TimeKeeper will call out "Two minute post...start NOW". The attacker will have 2 minutes to write His
first attacking post. He may not defend. When the post is finished, He shall wait until the TimeKeeper calls "Post NOW", then He will post His attack immediately followed by the word "DONE". Be sure to wait for the TimeKeeper as once the post is posted, it is too late to amend Your actions should You realise You made an error.
The TimeKeeper will then call "Defender, are You ready?" Once the Defender assents, the call will be "Four minute post..start NOW". The Defender shall then write His post in answer to the actions of His Attacker. He must defend against the attack, THEN make a counterattack. He writes a defence, then counterattack as His post. He waits for the TimeKeeper to call "Post NOW" then He posts followed by the word "DONE".
The Attacker will then have a chance to defend against the Defender's counterattack. He shall have two minutes to wite a defence when He will post His defence upon the TimeKeeper's command. His post is immediately followed by the word "DONE". In this post He may ONLY defend.
This ends the first round. The Judges will confer and Judge who won the first round, if there is a winner. The Judges will return once They are agreed and will state the outcome of the first round, what happened, who took hits if any landed, damage and the positioning of the Combatants in relation to each Other in the Pit, including facing and distance.
There shall be three rounds per Match, each round performed identically to the first with the exception of pre post, coin toss and choice of order. In the second round, the Defender of the previous round becomes the Attacker and posts His attack. The round continues as stated previously, with a Judgement at the end
of the round.
In the third and final round, the Defender of the previous round again reverts back to the Attacker & posts His attack. The Defender in this round will post a defence only. This will conclude the Match. The Judges confer on the proceedings of the Match and the FINAL Judgement is given by the third Judge.
ALL actions are to be TRIED or ATTEMPTED. ALL actions, including facing changes, drawing weapons, throwing weapons, movement...everything.
ALL posts judged to be forced are voided for the forced action only. It will be as if it never occurred.
HONOUR will be observed at ALL times. You may not like Your Opponent but You WILL be Honourable.
DEATHBLOWS are outlawed. Unless the Match is a Death Match, all deathblows are voided. No exceptions. Honour. Do NOT bring Your sneaky ways into this Home.
TB Melee
TB Melee will be Judged by the Free of the Home at the conclusion of the combat. If You have a dispute, You may have the scrolls looked at for an independent Judging but remember what occurs within RoG will be Judged in compliance with the Rules & Policies of the Home. That is, the Free of RoG will either sanction the results or not at Their discretion.
TB Melee is a continuous battle, there are no breaks in the midst of the combat. The Attacker will post an INTENT post, stating height, weight, weapons, stance, distance and intentions. He will also state His target. Thereafter, the Defender will post a response post stating height, weight, weapons, stance, distance. Distance is taken as the average between the two stated distances.
The Attacker then has two minutes to post His attack. He will time stamp in room before He starts to write His attack post, post it, then time stamp after He has posted the attack.
The Defender will time stamp before He begins to write His defence post, He will have two minutes to write His defence/counterattack post, post it then time stamp after His defence post.
An attack & a defence constitute one round of combat. The Melee lasts for 15 minutes with the Defender posting a final defence post. In the final defence post, only the defence will be legal. If the Defender posts a defence then a counterattack, the counterattack is voided. Once the combat ends, the Free will Judge the combat. Be honourable. No one likes to lose but be honourable in Your Judgements. Any Raider who argues heatedly that black was white when it can be clearly seen to be black will be declared killed. If You are Judged to be dead then refuse to accept the Judgement,
do not think You will be permitted back into RoG. We don't talk to dead Men.
Any Free Man who are present when Melee begins, who evades out of the Home or to the Gardens will be Judged as killed in the Melee unless He is of a non combative caste. The City of Dust is filled with Cowards.
Free Women and slaves will use TB Melee to evade. The Gardens are SAFE ZONED and any in them are considered non combatants.
These Combat Rules are subject to change without notice and the Home reserves the right to make changes as needed.
Just in case any feel they have been cheated or hard done by in any Judgement in the Home, remember this....a Home's laws extend only as far as it's boundaries. YOU elected to enter the Home with the intent to
attack it, so YOU will abide by it's combat rules. Or do not initiate an attack. Simple.
These Rules are written by Talonclaw, Hunter of RoG.
*Sanctioned Zone: this means all actions must be judged and ruled upon by specified persons either of the home or an agreed upon outside party.
This is a Fortress that is located with the edge of the Hrimgar Mountians. There is a pathway to the right that allows entrance and is only wide enough for a Bosk and wagon. See here for further description of Home and defenses.
